WWE NXT 08/31/10 by Dr. Money (Finale)

Welcome to the final edition of the Vintage WWE NXT Review, I am of course Doctor Money. Tonight is the Season 2 NXT Finale. I just got home from the Yankee game and coincidently, I went to a Yankee game the night of the Season 1 Finale. Odd, no?  Anyway, it’s down to Kaval, Alex Riley and Michael McGillicutty. Who is going to be WWE’s next breakout star? Read on to find out.

The show kicks off with Ashley Valence-Money introducing the WWE Pros. If you want to know where she’s been the past couple of weeks I’ve been asking her to call out sick because I didn’t want Zack Ryder to steal her from me, but then I realized I’m from Jersey and he’s not so automatically that makes me cooler. Woo, woo, woo, you know it. The Pros whose Rookies have been eliminated sit at the top of the ramp and the rest come to the ring with their Rookies. The Rookies that were eliminated are sitting in the front row. Matt “The Walking Tampon” Striker says there will be a double elimination tonight. No shit genius. There’s only supposed to be one winner so any way you slice it two guys are going to be eliminated. Then as if it’s some bombshell, Striker says the three remaining Rookies will face each other in a triple threat match. Um, I knew that already, it’s the same way you booked the Season 1 Finale. Although, I should be shocked WWE actually showed consistency in booking this show. Striker says the match is next and The Miz gets in Kaval’s face and Kaval shoves him and then Kofi Kingston clotheslines Miz out of the ring.

“Annoying” Josh Mathews and Michael “Douche” Cole tell us that next week is the premier of Season 3 of NXT and it will be an all Diva cast. Thank God, tonight is my last night covering this show. Kelly Kelly is revealed as the 1st Pro and her Rookie Naomi.

Alex Riley defeats Michael McGillicutty and Kaval in a Triple Threat Match (**1/2)

Unlike the Season 1 Finale match, this was one fall to a finish. They got 11 minutes, I was hoping for more since this is going to be the only match of the night. It was a strong 11 minutes however. I have to check my archives but I’m pretty sure this is the best Rookies only match from either season of NXT. Kaval was the star of this match his unique offense was fun to watch, MM and Riley held their own too. There were a lot of chops in this match; I had read somewhere the Vince banned them. The end came when Kaval hit a rolling Liger kick on MM and then went to the top for the Warrior’s Way but Riley shoved him off and stole the pin to pick up the win.

We find out former Divas Champion Alicia Fox is a Season 3 Pro and her Rookie is Maxine.

We come back from commercial to find out Goldust will be the Pro of Aksana.

Striker goes to ringside and asks all the eliminated Rookies who should win NXT. Titus O’Neil says it should be Alex Riley. He calls MM a Will Ferrell lookalike. I don’t see it at all. Eli Cottonwood says it should be Riley because he’s the most likable. Lucky Cannon says it doesn’t matter because the show went down the toilet the moment he was eliminated. Lucky should drown himself in a toilet. Percy Watson says MM should win. Husky Harris says MM should win because like him and his Pro Cody Rhodes, they were born better. That could lead to a nice little stable over on SmackDown. It would be like Legacy-lite, but it could work. It’s time for flashing pictures and the 1st person eliminated is Alex Riley. Riley takes the mic to say his goodbyes and he says the worst part of NXT has been listening to Striker talk over him the whole time. Thank you. He says that you should still bet the future of the WWE includes Alex Riley. I completely agree. I hated him when the season started, now I don’t.

The Bellas are revealed as the Pros for former NXT ring announcer Jamie Keyes. Poor her. What is she going to learn from them, how to hold the arm of the celebrity appearing on RAW because that’s all I’ve seen them do?

Primo (he still has a job?) is going to be the Pro of A.J. Lee from the Dirty Jersey. She’s cute, adios Ashley.

Striker is in the ring with MM and Kaval and says they will each get a chance to tell the other Rookie why they should win and the other should go home. MM takes the mic 1st and cuts and absolutely terrible promo about breast feeding Kaval says Kaval means flute. That was straight up trash. He should wrestle and never talk. Kaval says he’s earned respect around the world and he says he deserves to be here. This was probably the best promo Kaval has cut on NXT.

Vickie Guerrero is going to be the Pro of the abnormally tall Aloisia. She is 6 foot 9. I believe WWE actually just signed her this week.

It’s time to finally reveal the Season 2 winner and after more flashing pictures the NXT Season 2 Winner is Kaval! I’m actually shocked. Never did I think they’d give it to him. He gets the PPV match against a champion of his choice and I’m hoping to all end that Daniel Bryan wins the United States Championship and he chooses him. Striker wants to know what’s on MM’s mind and there’s not much in there than another bad promo where he ends it saying this moment is the genesis of McGillicutty. Kaval gets the mic the speak his mind and the eliminated Rookies from ringside attack Kaval. Their Pros come down to break things up and then MM and Riley come down to the ring to add to the madness. Then 6 of the 7 other Rookies (I have no idea where Eli went, nor do I really care) take turns hitting their big moves on Kaval. He’s left lying and then highlights of Season 2 are shown and that’s it for the Season 2 Finale of NXT.

Final Thoughts

So Kaval wins Season 2 and then gets buried. Typical WWE booking. I can’t complain much about how the Finale came across on TV. It was as good as could be expected and was much better than the Season 1 Finale. I really hope WWE doesn’t go with a Nexus 2.0 type of thing based on the end of the show. It’s called overkill. I will really be shocked if anyone and I literally mean anyone watches Season 3. The show as a whole has been disappointed. I’m really upset they canceled ECW for this. I’m going to tell you why, but not here. That column is coming I promise. I’d take the 3 finalist and add Husky and find them spots on either RAW or SmackDown and then send the other 4 either back to FCW or home. I’m going to give the Season 2 Finale a 5/10 and Season 2 as a whole a 4/10.

Goodbye forever NXT. You were good to me only in the fact you introduced me to The John Report universe but you have caused me many aggravating moments with your horrendous booking and stupid challenges. Thank you NXT for reminding me of my 1st girlfriend. You’ll always remember your 1st but the bad times far outweighed the good times and you both sucked and it her case it was a lot. OH YEAH!

As always, it’s social network plugging time.

    Congrats Money on being a trooper through your ordeal, now you get to move on to much better material.

  2. September 1st, 2010 at 09:32 | #2

    Dr. Money you have done a great job reviewing NXT. Hate that you won’t be doing Season 3. Wow what an ending, I thought Joe Henning was going to win. I don’t why they had Kaval win but as least Alex Riley didn’t win. The beat down as the end was cool and weird; it was sort of like a copy of the Nexus. I guess they’re going bring all 8 guys up to the main roster.

    Now for the last fashion NXT report. Man, I thought Michelle would have learned her lesson two weeks ago but I guess not. Those dresses were tight and very non TVPG. I mean I thought there for a moment while Layla and Michelle were celebrating with Kaval, we were going to saw a Brittany Spears moment as the bottom of their dresses barely covered their asses. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing but hey NXT is suppose to be TVPG. I will say that Layla looked smoking hot in that red dress.

    Now on to looking at Season 3 (Yes, I posted the same thing below on a different site. I was too lazy to rewrite all this so please cut me some slack.)

    Well, it’s cool that Season 3 will be all Divas and that Rookies each bring some different to the table. While I personally haven’t seen any of the six rookie wrestle, I’ve heard a lot of good things about them especially AJ Lee. I just hope that WWE doesn’t do those stupid challenges and let them wrestle as I believe that there’s only going to be four shows to this season.

    Now on to the “Pro”, (My comments are as to what makes sense storyline wise as the WWE want us to believe NXT is real. So the least the WWE can do is making the storyline believable.)

    Vicki Guerrero, I don’t actually have a problem with her being a Pro as she brings a great heel factor to her. Vicki gets great heat from the fans and if the WWE is going to make Aloisia a heel, then Vicki makes the perfect choice to pair Aloisia with.

    Goldust, I actually cool with Goldust being a Pro to a Diva Rookie. His bizarre gimmick makes sense for him should work and be entertaining. (I was against Laycool as Pros for Season and was proven wrong as they were very entertaining and had great chemistry with Kaval.) So I’m sure we’ll some entertaining things for sure from Goldust.

    Primo, yeah right what is the WWE thinking? Primo while he’s good in the ring has no good mic skills and personality wise; he brings nothing to the table. If WWE is dead on having a couple of guys as Pros, why not use Zack Ryder? They could have had Zack flirting from his Rookie or flirting with all the Rookies. Zack has good mic skills and had in my opinion one the best lines from Season 2. “I only care about my Rookie but that new announcer chick is hot! Call Me!”

    Alicia Fox is a great choice for a Pro. Alicia bring attitude and you need attitude to make in the WWE. Alicia isn’t greatest wrestler in the ring but she’s better than some of the other Divas in the WWE.

    Bella Twins, don’t they get an enough time TV? I mean what are they going Jamie Keyes? How hit on every lame guest host on RAW? How in hell are they supposed to show Jamie how to wrestle as they can’t wrestle themselves? Wish Jamie had a Pro like Gail Kim or even Jillian Hall.

    Kelly Kelly, the biggest joke of all the Pros on Season 3. Seriously, Kelly Kelly is going teach Naomi how to wrestle? To quote Zack Ryder, “Are Serious Bro?” (Remember people, I’m talking from storyline point of view) Kelly Kelly can’t do a simple dropkick. The only thing Kelly Kelly can do copy other people’s wrestling style (cough Mickie James cough). What Kelly Kelly needs to do is go back down to FCW and learn her own wrestling style. (Yes, I’m a Kelly hater and I freely admit it.)

    So that’s my opinion of the “Pros” for Season 3, just have to wait and see how it goes. I’m going pick my choice for the winner of Season 3; Jamie Keyes with Aloisia being the runner up. As I have said before, Jamie Keyes is one the nicest Divas you will ever meet. I hope that she wins but no matter who wins, it looks like this Season has a great set of Rookies.

    Once again, great Dr. Money. Be reading your reviews of TNA Impact.

    Man, McGillicutty was so awful last night with both his promos… Holy crap. I was just cringing watching him trying to get a statement out that took him like, four tries to get right… I mean honestly, it sounded so bad and really made no sense at the end of it all.

    Anyway, happy Kaval won. I’m curious as to where they’ll take the whole storyline of these guys ambushing him. It was a bit unorganized at the end (Riley planting Percy? Aren’t they on the same team? So confused) – but hey, I guess they’re all pretty green. Still, that in particular stood out as a huge botch. And talk about a pathetic attempt at the pros trying to help the guy – they just gave up and stood outside the ring…? The whole thing came off horribly I thought.

    Anyway, should be interesting to see how the all-diva edition of the show does. I wouldn’t hold my breath, but who knows, maybe the core audience will really want to see these ladies wrestle… Should be curious to see how the crowds respond to the shows though.

    Good review man. It’s been fun. On to bigger fish.

    NXT with divas is going to be an hour long bathroom break cause PG WWE will not let them wear anything worth watching. No matter how good or bad ratings were for the show right now they will go down for sure with an all woman roster. Too bad Batista isnt around to be a pro.

    I’m just excited about AJ Lee!!

    Seriously, I can’t get over McGiliicutty’s promos. All he had to do say something with word “perfect” in it and I would been ‘alright’ with it.

    Glad Kaval won though.

    @Yaz

    I was wondering the same thing about Riley going after Percy. I kept waiting for Riley to realize what he was doing and get back to attacking Kaval and the pros.

    Congrats on finishing, DM!

    As for the Diva season, Vickie and Aloisia actually make for an interesting pair: An annoying heel with a monster bodyguard? You’d have to be an idiot to screw that story–oh wait…

  8. September 1st, 2010 at 11:02 | #8

    People, especially male fans, are already giving up on NXT season 3, and that, in my opinion is just retarded.

    Why? WWE already doesn’t care about the women. If people completely ignore this season, they will ignore women even more. If this as viewers they might start treating them better.

    Besides people are already putting them in the same level as the other Divas, which is very wrong. Most of the rookies, if not all of them, are already better than half of the current Divas in WWE, especially AJ Lee, that easily is on a Melina/Gail Kim level. Naomi is a girl who wrestles for what? 6 months? and she’s already very good (for a WWE girl).

    Isis/Aloisia definitely has a long future in the E. She’s enormous. And even though she’s not great (yet), she’s not a Khali in the ring. I’m voting for Isis, even if AJ is better than her. Why? Because her looks aren’t the typical Diva. If a woman like Aloisia becomes popular with the fans, WWE might even open a door to women like Awesome Kong.

    Jamie Keyes is definitely athletic. I see as a Michelle Mccool in the making, but with more personality.

    Aksana and Liviana are okay. They just need a little more training in the basics, but they aren’t a Kelly Kelly.

    But the most amazing thing about this girls is that most of them already showed more personality in a one minute promo than they’re one pros.

    About the pros. Don’t criticize them. Its not like they actually teach something. I am glad that thanks to this, Goldust will have more TV time. I expect very funny segments with him there.

  9. Feedback
    September 1st, 2010 at 11:08 | #9

    The best of the show is the announcing between Matthews and Cole. I think its incredibly entertaining.

    Michael Cole: “So who do you think is going to win?”
    Josh Matthews: “I have no idea, but we’ll find out when we tune back to NXT!”
    Michael Cole (sarcastically): “GREAT ANSWER! GLAD I ASKED YA!”

    I think their banter is hilarious. I want to see this announcing team on Raw. Much better than anything Jerry Lawler can do.

  10. VinnyChayce
    September 1st, 2010 at 12:04 | #10

    I agree i hate cole and would like to see him and lawler replaced on raw but atleast matthews pointing out coles failures are better than nothing. i def agree with feedback on matthews tho hes good and that banter is because he is witty and doesnt annoy me like striker,cole or king and doesnt make me tired like grisham.

    Also, sorry but ya i gave up on nxt3 immediately following the announcement of an all woman season, ANY male wrestler on tv in any promotion is better in ring than any woman that has ever been anywhere and thats the truth. Bring back the attitude era where the ladies atleast had sex appeal but they wont and its PG so keep the divas as arm candy because the wrestling is a joke.

    September 1st, 2010 at 12:05 | #11

    @Ana_ Nattie_Fan
    I don’t know if it’s as much ‘people already giving up on it’ as it the perception that this next season will not succeed. Females can wrestle – don’t get me wrong, they can. But it’s rare to find woman’s matches that are as entertaining or physically driven as mens matches. That’s just fact. Wrestling has been a male driven sport for so long, and the idea of having a show driven completely by female performer is just a bit too unique and new – that honestly, it’s scary. That’s what I honestly think.

    You can cheer for the females all you want – and you make valid points for these performers. They are being portrayed more as wrestlers than ‘divas’ and that’s great to see – but it won’t matter if no one tunes in. What they should have done was have a mix of male and female rookies. They would end up with a larger audience to expose their female talent to. Right now it just seems like they’ve boned themselves – and I wouldn’t be surprised if Vince wants this venture to fail – just so he can say he tried and it didn’t work out.

  12. VinnyChayce

    @VinnyChayce
    Your statement regarding any male wrestler in any promotion being better than any woman in wrestling is so naive, ignorant and full of shit. You obviously don’t watch enough wrestling to know what you’re talking about and quite frankly give us guys a bad name. Awesome Kong, Gail Kim, Natalya Neidhart – just a few female wrestlers who could run circles around some of the male ‘wrestlers’ both WWE and TNA have employed.

    Don’t kid yourself. Get a clue.

  14. VinnyChayce
    September 1st, 2010 at 12:24 | #14

    @Yaz
    okay name one example. there is no pro sports for woman for a reason, u are just trying to be some modern male and uuuuu r the reason half of guys are pussys and they dont make men like they used to cause ur scared to speak ur mind, i love woman but get real. Name one (PRO) man that a woman can out shine in the ring…

  15. VinnyChayce
    September 1st, 2010 at 12:26 | #15

    im sure ull try using a horrible example like melina is better than khali, except khali is a freak of nature and thats y he is there and she is there to scream and miss drop kicks by 2 feet

  16. September 1st, 2010 at 12:26 | #16

    @Ana_ Nattie_Fan

    Good points, especially about Aloisia. Aloisia is 100 % not the diva which is a very good thing. Being a guy, I don’t when looking at Aloisia if I should be turned on, intimidated or both. Aloisia is beautiful I will say that. I was criticizing the Pro from a storyline point of view as the WWE for whatever reason wants us to believe that NXT it’s real which we all know. If the WWE is hell bend on wanting to go down the road of wanting fans to believe NXT is real, the least they could do is make the storylines believable. That’s where my criticism came from. I think the only three I really torn into were Primo, Bella Twins and Kelly Kelly. Jamie Keyes not only looks great, she’s very nice person so I’m cheering for Jamie all the way.

  17. Brian W.
    September 1st, 2010 at 12:27 | #17

    I for one will be watching Season 3 of NXT. Not only does it feature my future Giantess Lover Aloisha, but as Natte Fan pointed out, several of those women can actually wrestle. I’m reserving judgment and giving them and the show a chance.

  18. September 1st, 2010 at 12:28 | #18

    Sorry, I ment to say “I was criticizing the Pro from a storyline point of view as the WWE for whatever reason wants us to believe that NXT it’s real which we all know is not.”

    Damn keyboard, Sorry

    Awesome kong is a fat ass who has no range in what she can bring to the table and its probably y she isnt in wwe right now cause she has the look down but physicaly performs like the female equivelant of khali IMO. woman wrestling sucks i dont care what anyone says proof is the ratings drop so u dont be naive u little bitch u probably were raised by only woman or something get real.

  20. VinnyChayce

    just not good tv for a whole hour, one match per 2 hour show is fine and its cool to see what the women can do but no one cares about them in the long run and ill be proved right when the show tanks worse then it already has

  22. September 1st, 2010 at 12:41 | #22

    VinnyChayce: Did you ever watched Shimmer? Do you know who Manami Toyota or even Lioness Asuka is?

    Or if you prefer the american ones, maybe Sara del Rey?

  23. September 1st, 2010 at 12:50 | #23

    @VinnyChayce

    Better yet did you watch the Awesome Kong vs. Gail Kim matches on TNA which brought in high ratings?

  24. Udder Chaos
    September 1st, 2010 at 12:52 | #24

    Hey man….McGillicutty is horrible on the mic!!! It just seems like they rushed him to TV way too soon. He needs to hit the indy’s and learn a thing or two, but his horrendous promo skills actually made Kaval look even better.

    Don’t get me wrong, promos aren’t the most important thing to me and I actually like Kaval’s mic work because it adds to his “warrior” persona. He isn’t a great talker, but his gimmick isn’t talking it’s destroying your ass in the ring.

    With McGillicutty, it just seemed like he wasn’t able to establish himself as a heel or a face. The fans didn’t really connect with him at all.

    The best guys coming out of NXT 2 are Kaval, Husky Harris, and Alex Riley.

    Why are you getting so defensive man? Oh, probably because you know you’re full of shit. I’m not going to feed into your on-going arguments here because I know all you want is attention… between this and getting off to pictures from 90210 you got nothign else, so understand I’m just going to say this and leave it at that.

    You can put down the female wrestlers as much as you want, and I’m sure in your small, narrow-minded little world you believe your own bullshit, but the fact is that there are a lot of female wrestlers out there, ones that neither you or I even know about, that are more talented than a handfull of male wrestlers. Why bother naming any male talents when all you’ll say in rebuttle is ‘(insert name) is a freak of nature and thats y he is there’…? That’s as much a pathetic answer as it is a reason for them to be in the ring.

    I don’t even think you’ve seen female WRESTLERS actually work, have you? And if you have and you still stand behind your belief that there is not one single female wrestler out there that could out-wrestle a male, then you obviously have no idea what WRESTLING really is.

    Ha Vince finally went absolutely mental. NXT3 with all hookers and Primo/Goldust. Nobody will watch that. They should have at least made it half and half so they could get Tyler Black on there. This is good for the hookers division, but nobody will watch more than the first episode (and that’s just to see the amazon women, who better win btw).

    I do think Aloise will be interesting with Vickie. Perhaps if she sticks with Vickie we will see Aloise vs Beth Phoenix when she returns considering how that angle left off. That could be interesting because of there size…. Still I wont care if it never happens and I wont watch Aloise unless she makes it to RAW or Smackdown. Be that as it may I would rather see William Regal vs Zak Ryder get the time the divas get.

    That’s what I’m saying. No, not the part about Ryder or Regal, but the potential of Aloisia w/ Vickie vs. Beth could, potentially, be a great storyline. I mean you have Vickie who gets more heat than almost any other heel…with a big monster…against Beth who everyone loves. Heck, it mirrors Andre w/ The Brain versus Hogan.

    It’s something unique…something that could get some attention…and something better than the dumb crap they’ve done with the women in recent years. NXT:S3 will be a success if they let these women show some personality.

    Like it or not, divas are apart of the WWE. They will be apart of it. They could actually use this to try and build some actual characters as opposed to cookie-cutter blonde bimbo, so maybe it won’t be a train wreck…but then again, it’s the WWE so I wouldn’t be surprised if they burnt 25 minutes on some stupid hot dog eating contest

    Are you serious? Shimmer? Shimmer is hands down a million times better than anything the damn WWE could do w/their divas. Manami Toyota & Lioness Asuka are freaking legends. Also u bring up Sara Del Rey? She is awesome. Way too good to be a diva. I know the point you’re trying to make but within the walls of WWE those points are not valid. WWE likes bimbo models instead of talented workers. How can u bring up such excellent female workers when talking about NXT season 3. I guarentee you these women will not be that great nor will they produce ratings. I’ve seen most of them wrestle before and there is nothing to get excited about. You can defend wwe divas and wwe diva rookies all u want but WWE has proven to us that they do not care about wrestling. They care about the girls can work the cat walk. Its sad but true.

  36. September 1st, 2010 at 14:40 | #36

    Also Doc Money you said that Kaval won and then got buried right after. Im sorry but thats not getting buried. Getting buried is like when Bourne comes out to face Sheamus and hets yakuza kicked once and gets pinned. Or like when we saw Ryder against Sheamus a couple weeks ago. They totally buried Ryder. One move from Sheamus and Ryder was pinned. Thats gettin buried. But when 7 guys attack you from behind and beat you down… that is not gettin buried. It was 7 on 1. Hello? Seriously.

    Anyway im so glad that Kaval, the best worker of the rookies, won NXT 2. I think the right guy won the contest. We can talk about mic skills all night long but when it comes down to the core of this business, you gotta be able to go in the ring. I know a lot of people like Michael Magillawhatever, but he is downright awful on the mic and his ring work is average. Then we have Riley. He is great on the mic. He could be much better, but he is still the best rookie on the mic. He is only average in the ring. Now take the winner Kaval.. He is gettin better on the mic each week. Cole has put his mic skills over on the finale and the week before. Thats sayin somethin. Cole is supposed to hate Kaval & he praised him. Kaval’s in-ring work is second to none. You guys wait & see. Give him 15-20 minutes on RAW, Smackdown or a ppv and you’ll see why. He knows how to work a match properly and has an arsenal of moves that’ll make your jaw drop. Its about damn time that a great performer was put over a great talker. I mean what is Riley gonna do at a ppv? Is he gonna stand in the ring and talk to us. If thats the case, maybe he should go be a talk show host. In the end the best “wrestlers” should be the ones who go over big.

    Idk how u feel about the miz but i agree 100% with your take on Alex Riley. You hit it right on the head with the direction i wish the company would head with the best in ring going over big. Basically thats my problem with the miz because he is not good enough in ring to get a push to main event ppvs and draw viewers, he cripples the opportunity of a match reaching 4 stars. In this season of NXT we’ve seen that Riley can talk but i dont care about that and his talent in ring has me not wanting to see him wrestle and thats how i feel about the miz essentially the same person except riley is bigger.

    Why aren’t you happy about WWE replacing ECW with this? ECW was basically this show, but in a normal kind of way…as in without a contest. ECW wasn’t ECW so I’m GLAD they ended it. No more the “C” show ECW that nobody cared about.

    ECW was nothing like NXT and I think it did a lot more for the “greener” wrestlers in giving them experience working on the mic in front of larger crowds, letting them experience building feuds, and it had its own title which gave guys like Tatsu, Ryder, and Bourne a chance to at least feel what it is to chase a title in the WWE.

    There were no stupid challenges, etc. I admit, the WWE dropped the ball with ECW because it had a lot more potential, but even then it still did a lot more for the development of superstars then NXT has.

  43. September 1st, 2010 at 15:37 | #43

    Erm, Babygoose, I wasn’t comparing those women with the NXT season 3. I’m not retarded. Basically Vinny had said that for us to name women who wrestle better than some guys. That’s why I mentioned Shimmer and those two japanese legends.

    And yeah, I know WWE doesn’t give a shit about the Divas. But if this show got good ratings, maybe, just maybe they would care slightly more. Besides I wasn’t defending Divas in general. Most of them are terrible compared to independent talent.
    I kinda defended the rookies, just because they already are deemed as crap because of the current Divas, but in fact most are better than Eve or Kelly (and yeah, I know it isn’t hard to be better than that xD) and because its wrong to judge them when people haven’t seen them in the ring.

  44. September 1st, 2010 at 15:59 | #44

    Lets face it. WWE ECW sucked Vickie Guerrero’s balls. WWE NXT sucked even worse. We can sit here all day & talk about how its good for the rookies to be able to work on their mic skills and in-ring skills. HELLO??? Thats what the freakin independents are for. Thats why guys like Daniel Bryan & Kaval are able to come in and do so great. WWE doesn’t need a 3rd or 4th show. They dont. Its a waste of money and a waste of tv time. No one is watching these shows. They get horrible ratings. WWE needs to fix this. If it means dropping some talent, then so be it. They aren’t being used anyway. NXT season 3 is only going to be 5 wks long. First off that shows that WWE doesn’t care about the divas division, and second it shows that NXT is being cancelled. We can only hope so. Seriously… Here lets have 4 freakin shows. RAW does average in the ratings. They draw 3.5′s and anything higher than that is considered a huge success to them. Smackdown is getting TNA Impact type ratings. SD’s last rating was a 1.6. TNA jus did a 1.7 last week. NXT can barely hit the 1.0 on the ratings scale and Superstars is jus embarrassing. They usually draw a 0.5 or 0.6. This is perfect proof that the roster is too damn big, there’s too many shows and too many belts. This is why the writing team does so shitty. They need to focus on only 2 shows. Ive bitched about all this in the past & WWE is finally doing the right thing. By Wrestlemania 27 we will be down to only 4 belts total. WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship & the Tag Team & Divas Championships. And hopefully we’ll be down to only 2 shows. WWE didnt create a 3rd and 4th show so their lower & midcard guys could wrestle to almost no ratings. They did it so they can control almost every night of the week. TNA has thursday nights. WWE has Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Then they have Sunday for ppv’s. They did it to create a monopoly in pro wrestling. Its blatantly clear. WWE will be #1 forever if they jus cut the bullshit, focus on RAW & Smackdown and give us some good wrestling/promos/feuds. Thats all it takes. Yes we’ll see some future endeavors but why is it a big deal. Why does Zack Ryder have to be on tv. He sucks. He has a stupid gimmick and he’s done nothing to impress anyone except say Woo woo woo. Wow lets roll out the red carpet for this guy. He’s revolutionary. NOT!!! Give em the boot. And all the other jobbers can be cut too. They can try and make it in TNA. If they cant make it there, then its time to get a 9-5.

    True that. Most of the NXT rookies showed more personality in one minute than I have ever seen from the current Divas. AJ, in particular, seemed really solid in her promo.

    That’s not my fault “nobody” cared about ECW. The show most weeks was a lot better than RAW and is certainly better than NXT. These 2 shows are nothing alike. I’m not going to go further into it because I want to save it for the column.

    @BabyGooseROH (A.O.)
    What do you call it then? I mean the guy won and then was completely overshadowed and annihilated by the beatdown and on a day where the show should’ve ended with him celebrated it ended showing other people standing around his prone body.

  50. September 1st, 2010 at 17:43 | #50

    @Doctor Money
    I jus simply call it a beatdown. The beginning of an angle. Kaval wasn’t made to look weak or bad. He was caught off guard by 7 dudes & the fans saw that. When a guy is buried most fans wont take that guy serious anymore. But Kaval didn’t lose any credit there. He was ganged up on & he couldn’t stop it. The thing that looked great was that he fought back for awhile before it ultimately was too much. But when a faction ruins someone’s celebration by beating the crap out of one guy, that isn’t considered a burial. People now will expect some revenge from Kaval. Daniel Bryan will help him probably. Those 2 tagged together on RAW and rumor has it, its not jus a one time deal. They are thinking of having Kaval challenge the Hart Dynasty for their tag belts and hav Bryan as his partner.

  56. September 1st, 2010 at 17:57 | #56

    @Doctor Money
    Yes they ruined his moment, but that wasn’t a burial. Damn dude. Thats not what it means to get buried. Zack Ryder got buried on RAW vs Sheamus. Daniel Bryan got buried a lot on NXT season 1 losing in 1 min matches to Regal & Sheffield. But Kaval was not buried. You’re right we will disagree on this.

  57. September 1st, 2010 at 19:25 | #57

    @BabyGooseROH (A.O.)
    I know what being buried means. Maybe that’s the wrong word, but I didn’t like how things played out. They couldn’t just let him have his moment it was like they just had to knock him down a peg. And if you’re going to say well it’s the start of an angle, I don’t like that either because we don’t need Nexus 2. It’s overkill and the ending came off incredibly bad to boot.

  58. September 1st, 2010 at 19:40 | #58

    @Doctor Money
    Yes i agree it came off bad and looked very bad. Everyone looked outta place. The pros looked lost and the rookies were fighting each other. Riley beat up Percy then at the end Percy was standing there with them. These rookies are more green than freakin broccoli. I was pissed at Lucky and O’Neal for even touching Kaval. Their finishers looked botched. O’Neal took a huge yakuza kick from MVP and acted as if nothin happened at all. It was worse than when Cena no sales. And i dont want a Nexus 2.0 either. Its a horrible idea. Why copy something that is still going on?

    2. Layla looked amazing, as usual.

    3. The all womens NXT, will be the final nail in the coffin for this show, it’s been bad up to now, i expect the ratings to half, maybe worse, especially as even the male pro’s are barely on tv and no one cares about them either (sorry Goldust, but it’s true)

    oh my bad, point 4. i agree ecw was WAY better but nxt was the wwe trying to do sumfin different ‘sports entertainment reality’ which evolved from things like tough enough and the diva search..one thing these shows have in common is that most of the talented ones end up with jobs after regardless of who won..i think on nxt they are being judged are being and developed at the same time which aint easy..take kavals mic work in week 1 and compare it to the finale? big improvement wouldn’t have happened with a 2 minute raw segment..as for the ending of the show im pretty sure sum1 will be fired for it as it was quite possibly the worst beatdown in wrestling history..mm and husky did ok but the eliminated ones ruined it and riley clearly ddnt even kno what was going on after rushing from the locker room..the production truck guys shouldve had it re-shot..mm needs to be ‘perfect’ as i sense major arrogrance in his personality that is kept hidden..i think a good script would sort him out..everybody cant be the rock and wing it for 30 mins at a time..hell cant AA help these kids with promos?he probably changed thier daddys diapers its not like he’s doin anyfin else back there

    Of course, being someone who likes Alex Riley doesn’t point out his stupidity in attacking Percy Watson TWICE when he was supposed to be beating on Kaval. Yeah, such a great future star when he attacks someone who’s side he is supposed to be on. Thn he stand next to Percy like nothing happened. The end was a clusterfuck, but Kaval won (Like he should have, everyone else again sucks. Yet again one one person from each Season was worth anything (Kaval and Danielson obviously). Don’t also forget Titus O’ Niel no sold MVP’s (Err El Genericos Corner Yakuza Kick) Players Boot.

    Also Matt Striker > Alex Riley/Miz try actually seeing him wrestle. Josh Matthews is at least more knowledgeable about wrestling than you (Hey and even Cole).

    As far as woman wrestling goes, plenty of famous moves have been invented by women. You know the Vertabreaker/Cop Killah? It ‘s original name is Kudome Valentine, performed by Megumi Kudo. The Burning Hammer was not created by Kobashi but by a woman.

    Know the Sunset Flip Poweromb (Originally known as a Yoshi Tonic) that Melina does called the Last Call when she gets on the opponents back and screams before doing the Yoshi Tonic? That stolen from MsChif who did it the exact same way only long before Melina did. When you get outside of WWE and watch say Shimmer or watch any Joshi match, women’s wrestling can be just as much enjoyable as any male match.

    You know REAL women’s wrestling. Educate yourself people please.

    Haha, just because Raw sucked balls, doesn’t mean anything for ECW. Let’s face it, it was often an forgettable show. You can’t really compare Raw with ECW. It can’t go like that. ECW became a show for new people to come in so if they still had it, they should’ve at least named it something else. Calling it ECW is ridiculous. The NXT concept isn’t that bad, but just needs to be better.

    I’m not going to make some half-assed sexist comment regarding women’s wrestling. There are girls that can go in this world, and I’m not going to take that away from them. Unfortunately, I just don’t find it entertaining, so I won’t be watching. I also don’t understand the need to put an influx of divas in the WWE when the ones they have hardly get over 3 minutes in the ring. That tag-team diva match Monday night was a farce.

I understand the other side of what everyone has said but woman should be the only ones defending this not grown men who want to watch the best wrestlers in the world compete in what we hope will be the next 5 star match.

    @VinnyChayce
    Your arguments are so muddled and incoherrent I really have no idea where to even begin. Firstly, you’re being incredibly sexists in your posts and quite irrational. To suggest that any of the advocates for woman’s wrestling are any less manly then you is ridiculous. If anything, you and your narrow-minded view on women is why there will never be true equality amongst sexes. So thanks a lot asshole.

    Secondly, no one is disagreeing with the fact that no one will watch this all-diva version of NXT. What people are disagreeing with is your (unsupported) views on female wrestling and how there aren’t any female wrestlers that can out-wrestle or perform better than male wrestlers. You sir, are an idiot if you truly feel that. I would take a Kong/Gail Kim match over Santino/Koslov segments anyday.

    Lastly, I think you really need a reality check. Your views here are being noted as being directed more toward females in general as opposed to female wrestlers solely. It comes off as incredibly rude and sexist. I can understand if you’re just saying this shit for the sake of it and to garner attention, but if you really feel this way then I feel incredibly sorry for you. You’re limiting yourself to a world of possibilities with your narrow-minded view. Say what you want about us guys who support females, but the simple fact is we just have our heads on straight. And you don’t.

God they’re awful. I dont care what anyone says… hands down… they SUCK!!! They are unathletic, ungraceful, uncoordinated, very untalented & they insist on screaming for every move they do on offense or defense. I really enjoy women’s wrestling on the independent circuit and in Japan. They are athletic, graceful, coordinated, very talented & don’t scream with every move they do. Lol. See what i did there? Anyway the problem is WWE only cares for the models & not the athletes. Until they focus more on the athletes, divas will NEVER EVER be taken seriously.

    ya okay u just proved my point further. sorry i dont run my comments through Word like u do. Main eventing? Rock and HHH were in it and Steph main eventing is a segment not a match.
    Awesome Kong makes less money then i do so she would hop on the chance to be in wwe no matter what her role.

    they devoted a season of nxt to divas so it will fail. theyre giving it 5 episodes and they are probably doing it so they dont have to bring in even more green male wrestlers since theyve expanded the roster by almost 20 in the past 4 months.

    TNA is a fucking joke the ratings the get are trash and the knockout division has been squashed. they got the higher ratings because not enough regular people watch so the male audience spikes when tits and ass are on screen but u didnt see that when mickie james was fighting mccool. funny u have to bring up woman from indies and shit no one can see on tv to get ur point across. my cousins a big girl and she can fight i guess shes a fabulous wrestler except u cant see it.

    u think wwe is supporting womans wrestling when they give them goldust and primo? seriously?

    babygoose just rants on grammar which is funny cause im not being graded and dont care what some 16 year old virgin thinks about anything in life.

    so ya nice try yaz. think what u will but it doesnt change the fact that its not immature to explain to someone that i feel the way wwe writers do because the fact is wwe is the biggest wrestling promotion of all time and they dont give a shit about the female workers, yet u do which makes u alittle too into wrestling if u need woman matches to get ur fix

    u like womens wrestling … am i the only one who finds that funny cause it is.

    i have a life i only have time for the major leagues (wwe) and a DVR shortened version of TNA. ive been watchin wrestling for over 20 years and can gaurntee u dont kno more about it then i do. maybe womans wrestling u got me beat but its because the shit is boring and i dont care about it and neither do the majority of people.

  90. Yaz
    September 2nd, 2010 at 13:24 | #90

    @VinnyChayce
    You’re so all over the place it’s difficult to respond to these rants, so I won’t. I never disagreed with the fact that this show likely won’t succeed or that there are some woman who can’t wrestle. My only disagreement was you claiming that there aren’t any who can entertain or wrestle as well as some of the men. Which is bullshit.

    You can throw out all the negative statements and excuses you want to defend your point of view, the fact is that there are some people who like GOOD woman’s wrestling. If you don’t know of it or don’t want to acknowledge it that’s your problem – but it is out there.

    And I’m pretty sure if WWE wanted nothing to do with woman’s wrestling they’d just scrap the matches and use them as valets as they used to back in the day. But there I go trying to use logic again. Won’t work with someone who seemingly has none.

    And I’m done now.

  92. VinnyChayce
    September 2nd, 2010 at 13:30 | #92

    okay u can have CM punk vs Christian or Melina vs Mickie James…. which do u pick? i can go on and on with examples till u realize giving the woman a match takes away one match from the men and it usualy ends up being a christian/swagger/kofi/mvp that loose ground in becoming stars because they dont have enough time. im iritated that most of u agree these guys need more time during matches yet dont see that they could use the womens time for them. a woman can be a great wrestler for a woman but its a physical and athletic competition and they arent up to par with males.

  93. Yaz
    September 2nd, 2010 at 13:33 | #93

    @VinnyChayce
    Well one minute you’re saying that women’s matches only go 1-3 muntes anyway and then you’re saying they’re taking away from other matches? Give me a break. The diva matches get so little time on tv that it hardly effects other potential matches. You want to complain on time that isn’t going to good matches? Why not mention excrutiatingly long promos? Or backstage segments? Or celebrity hosts? Or raw-rebounds and did you knows? You’re talking about a 1-3 minute match instead. Makes no sense.

    and i kno u must be a pussy or a young kid if u think im ranting. this is typing if it were out loud id be speaking in my half asleep dont give a fuck voice. u r the passionate one when it comes to woman wrestling, i simply dont like it or u

  95. VinnyChayce
    September 2nd, 2010 at 13:36 | #95

    those things are all a waste of time aswell didnt say only the diva matches are the fault but its just another loose end that should be cut. id cut santino id cut matt hardy id cut alot of that roster and load it up with samoa joe aj styles tyler black and roh talent id do alot in a perfect world im just sayin maybe womens wrestling should be left for an all woman promotion for people like u so the majority of us dont have to use there matches as a bathroom break

    Like i said… You’re an ignorant fuck. WWE is right bcuz they make lots of money? You’re an idiot. WWE’s ratings may not be as bad as TNA’s but their ratings still suck. They jus got a 3.5 this week and they’re celebrating it. They used to do ratings in the 5′s and 6′s. And sometimes they went up to 7′s and 8′s. Now they’re lucky if they hit the 3.5 mark. Ya WWE knows how to get it done. Dumbass.

  102. September 2nd, 2010 at 13:50 | #102

    @VinnyGAYce
    You guarantee that u kno more than we do. Dude ive been watchin for 22 yrs and i haven’t stuck only to WWE. Ive been watchin ROH for 8 yrs. Call WWE the big leagues all u want but they CANNOT match the quality of wrestling that ROH produces and thats a fact. I can barely watch TNA cuz they suck. Ive also watched ProWrestling NOAH, New Japan, ProWrestling Guerrilla and i try to catch the Ted Petty Invitational every year. To stick only to WWE and say no one knows more than you is bullshit. Your full of shit.

  103. September 2nd, 2010 at 13:55 | #103

    @VinnyChayce
    Hey dumbass. I was defending talented female workers that are not in WWE. Not the WWE divas. Once again you cant pull your head out of Vince McMahon’s ass for two seconds to realize they may be a million dollar company but they are nowhere near the top when it comes to wrestling quality. You’re right, im not watching NXT 3. Its bcuz the fucktards who run WWE dont hire women who can wrestle. I will never take WWE seriously when their #1 guy is fucking John Cena. Holy shit. Ya they know what they’re doing as much as you like women’s wrestling.

    @BabyGooseROH (A.O.)

    Guys, it’s all opinion based, you get that, right? Vinny, I never disagreed with the fact that most people will not watch this show… I never even disagreed with your opinon that the time of shitty diva matches could be used elsewhere… What I disagree with is your original statement that there are no women wrestlers out there more entertaining than some male wrestlers. And in that, iti is my opinion, that you are mistaken, or possible uneducated on the topic – like you said, you don’t watch women’s wrestling.

    And I’m not trying to speak out like I’m the majority. I’ve never alluded to that. All I have said is that I’m sure I’m not alone in knowing of good women’s wrestling.

    It doesn’t matter how long you guys have been watching wrestling – it’s really irrelevant. We’re all fans of the business who have our own views on them and that’s fine. If we were going by that logic and there was some sort of seniority rank then Hulk Hogan, a guy who has worked IN the business for more than ’20 years’, would be ‘right’ in everything… And we all know that isn’t the case.

  108. September 2nd, 2010 at 14:03 | #108

    @VinnyChayce
    So then i guess you can trust WWE that the divas are good workers? You’re an idiot. Listen to yourself. You defend WWE, but they’re the ones forcing divas shit and santino/kozlov crap down our throats. We’re also forced to except that John Cena is one of the best wrestlers to ever come into WWE. Its bullshit. Their writing is bullshit and their matches are bullshit. They’ve had one good match this whole year. Taker vs Michaels II… Its fucking september and they’ve had one really good memorable match in 2010. Im supposed to trust these assholes who cant even properly book a show. ROH comes out with a match of the year candidate every damn month. Usually more than one per month. Holy crap. Jus because Vince McMahon is a snake and he’s used business to control every aspect of the pro wrestling world so no one else can make it…. to you that makes them better? If thats true then i cannot debate any wrestling topics with you on a serious level. It jus proves that you’re very very uneducated in pro wrestling. WWE may make a lot of money fooling kids, but adults like yourself shouldn’t fall for too. Its sad. Im done talking to you. Goodbye you ignorant bastard.

    You are all worked up with microsoft word in overtime buddy. u loose any credit u had and im starting to respect yaz and his opinion on this, i dont trust wwe that the divas are good workers i kno they are not and wwe knows they are not but what people want to see is good looking woman in akward positions not ugly broads hamming it up with long matches. cena is similar to the rock in that there voices got them there rep. but u proably love miz baby goose and john cena is wayyyy better than miz in my book. i take wwes word that they want to be the best and cream of the crop will rise to the top and u will one day see aj and joe in wwe and one day u will see cena dethrowned but thats part of the biz i love to hate. if i got all i wanted from the writers it wouldnt be as good because it would fit a mold of what i like and no one else. wwe trys to make everyone happy and thats the only problem i have with them. they are makingg yaz happy with nxt3 pissing everyone else off they r makin kids happy with cena pissing everyone else off and they are making internet nerds happy with kaval and bryan they are making wwe longtime fans happy with brett while pissing off the roster who deserves the time. they cant win but yet they are the big leagues and u watch- u have to watch or ur brain will explode because ur so into it

    Its a 2 part game and i dont want anyone who cant do both to be on top. u have to be good in ring and out and if not u should never be more then a midcarder. example: regal good in sucks out and example: miz good out sucks in … both should be midcarders …. john cena is good on the mic and decent in the ring u r just sick of him and they dont care what u r sick of. very few guys are great in ring and out that get snubbed. there is only one in wwe right now that is great in ring and out that has not been world champion yet and thats Christian.

  132. September 2nd, 2010 at 17:12 | #133

    @chris d
    They have a weekly 1 hour show on HDnet. You’d have to call your cable or satellite provider to see how to get it. Also they have ppvs on http://www.gofightlive.tv ….. Their next ppv is called Glory By Honor IX on Sept 11 at 8pm EDT… It only costs $14.95 and you get great hard hitting wrestling. You can also watch their video wires on youtube. Those are what helps people keep up to date with whats goin on in ROH w/promos and match highlights. Jus type in ROH Video Wire 2010 in the youtube search engine and it’ll give you all of em for this year but the search results will be outta order. But they’re all there. They’ll say like ex. ROH Video Wire 1-14-10 and etc.

  133. September 2nd, 2010 at 17:18 | #134

    @chris d
    Damn i forgot about there dvds. They make a dvd for every show they put on except for the ones that are on tv. But like their house shows. Which by the way, their house shows are a million times better than what you’ll see on HDnet. The ppv’s are awesome too. They go all out. But you can buy their dvds at http://www.rohwrestling.com or http://www.rohvideos.com…. a good way to know what to buy is checkin out this buyers guide. That way you dont have to wonder whether it was a good show or not. Here’s a link to a really good buyers guide. http://www.ultimatepokerbankroll.com/uncategorized/roh-buyers-guide

    September 2nd, 2010 at 21:09 | #141

    Ana_ Nattie_Fan :People, especially male fans, are already giving up on NXT season 3, and that, in my opinion is just retarded.
    Why? WWE already doesn’t care about the women. If people completely ignore this season, they will ignore women even more. If this as viewers they might start treating them better.

    You may like it. Billy James may like it. But 99% of WWE fans could care less about DIVA’s.

    I enjoy good women’s wrestling, but WWE has not put on one single half decent female match in years. The DIVA’s division is nothing but a sideshow, the DIVA’s most liked by the fans (Maryse, Natalya, Serena) are popular due to being valet’s for stars, not for their in-ring skills.

    I am not trolling, but the WWE female product is, and always has been but for a very brief period where Trish Stratus pretty much single handedly saved it, shit. They don’t know how to book female wrestling.

    NXT is already a joke of a show with all its challenges, and they made it an even bigger one by adding DIVAs.

    I agree w/u. NXT 3 is gonna bomb. The first episode may do decent but after that it will fail w/out a doubt. And yes 90% of the WWE divas do suck. But everyone was gettin mad at Vinny GAYce because he was saying there were no female wrestlers in any company in the entire world that could wrestle a good or entertaining match. He’s a fuckin retard. Look at his messages. He cant even form a complete sentence. He’s dumb enough to think we use microsoft word too. Ugh its called Mozilla Firefox. Its the best internet browser out there. But even w/out the misspelling of words his sentences were incoherent. Anyway i know you’re not on his side or anything. Jus fillin you in.

    If WWE made the women relevant, we’d have good matches. We have Natalya, Gail Kim, and when AJ Lee gets here, we’ll have her. Whoever says that women can’t outwrestle men is full of shit, because Manami Toyota has put on about 5 or 6 ***** matches with other women and if you don’t believe that, then look it up. Women, albeit rightly trained ones, with the right use could be great. I’d love to see Gail Kim and Nattie Neidhart for about 15 minutes. Because I’m pretty sure if they were in tip top shape we could get at least *** from them. More than likely more. I really couldn’t give a shit less about NXT III but I am intrigued by Aloisa and AJ Lee, who is a great worker and a beautiful girl
