Here are the results from The Berzerker bracket that was started on Saturday and was open for 2 days.
1. Hart vs. Austin @ WM13 def. 8. Diesel vs. Michaels @ WM11 – 96% to 4%. Not much of a surprise.
4. Money in the Bank @ WM21 def. 5. Guerrero vs. Angle @ WM20 – 65% to 35%. Crazy bumps defeats technical wrestling.
3. Michaels vs. Hart @ WM12 def. 6. E&C vs. Dudleys vs. Hardys @ WM16 – 51% to 49%. It won by 11 total votes and was close the entire way.

Please add comments in the section provided below because I think for something like this one of the benefits is that we’ll be able to share our opinions with one another and hopefully grow to appreciate these matches even more than we did going in.
I have comments under the matches. In the case of every match, I’ve written about it at some point in my writing career, so it was an easy cut and paste job for me. In some cases, I’ve written more about a particular match. For the sake of this column, I’ll keep it at a two paragraph minimum. That’s only fair. I won’t be including my star ratings. I’ll stick to descriptions only. I don’t want to influence anybody’s choice by listing my ratings.

You’ve hopefully seen the previous post where I introduced the Greatest WrestleMania Match Ever tournament that I’ll be running here at thejohnreport.net over the next 2 weeks. Frankly, I got more gripes about it than I intended, so I decided to change it up again. Mainly, I threw Rock/Hogan from WM18 into the fold as a 6 seed in the Naked Mideon bracket (you’ll see the graphic shortly – it’s bracket, not a picture of Naked Mideon I mean).
Why did I throw Rock/Hogan into the mix? Two reasons: 1) I got a lot of people asking about that one match on facebook, on twitter and in the comments below, so I figured maybe I should watch it again. I still don’t think it’s great technically, but in terms of emotion it’s one of the best matches ever. We all have different tastes. Some people like Hogan’s back raking, I guess. I don’t love it, but I can appreciate it and there’s no denying the guy is probably the most charismatic wrestler ever. It’s not like he won people over because of his moveset, right? So I’ll give the match its due. Truthfully, all the matches that were a 6, 7 or 8 seed were all very close to me with Rock/Hogan on the fringe, so bumping out the Money in the Bank match at WM25 to appease some very passionate fans is something I’ll do. 2) I re-watched it along with a lady friend that has watched some wrestling in her time and she really went nuts for it. She’s seen it before, but not more than the original viewing in 2002. Her reactions made me think, “hmmm maybe I’m missing something with this one.” While I still don’t think it’s more than a 3 star match at best, its significance is pretty huge and I’ll acknowledge that I messed up by not originally including it. I’ve corrected it and as you’ll see below it’s a part of the tournament now.

Starting Saturday I’ll begin the 32 Best WrestleMania Match Ever Tournament. It will be run like the NCAA hoops tourney. There will be four brackets each with 8 seeds in it. There will be 4 #1 seeds, 4 #2 seeds, 4 #3 seeds and so on until we reach 8 for each bracket. I’ll post the brackets at the bottom of this message. Let’s get to some rules/notes first:
- The 32 matches and their seeds were decided by me. I understand that we all have different opinions on what makes a great match, which is fine. If you feel strongly about a match, write about it in the comments section and try to convince people to vote for it.
- That Chris Benoit guy does exist in this tourney. He has a few matches in here.
- The brackets are unofficially named after The Berzerker, Kamala, Al Wilson and Naked Mideon. Why? Because I love them, that’s why.
