The John Report: WWE TLC 2011 Recap

WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs

They had a “Twas the Night Before Christmas” like beginning with voiceover guy narrating a tale that was relatable to the matches at tonight’s TLC PPV. It was pretty good. Very creative. I love the WWE production team.

Canton’s Corner: The Wrestling Week in Review – November 26
By John Canton

Welcome to Canton’s Corner. There was no CC column last week as I’m sure a lot of you noticed. I think when there are WWE PPVs I won’t be doing the column. It’s hard to find the time when I’m going through the preview. Anyway, we’re back to the regular format this week with the polls, some likes/dislikes for Raw, Smackdown & TNA’s Impact Wrestling. There’s also a new feature starting this week. It’s called “The Twitter Ten” where I answer ten Twitter questions. It will be following the Smackdown part and before the Impact part. Let’s get to it.

Canton’s Corner: The Wrestling Week in Review – October 29

Welcome to Canton’s Corner. After a few weeks of getting away from the traditional format of this column with the like/dislike feature that looks at Raw, Smackdown & TNA Impact Wrestling, we’re back at it this week. I’ve also got some thoughts on Maryse being released by WWE on Friday. Speaking of her, at the very end of this column I’ve posted my favorite pic of that fine looking woman. You’re welcome. As always we begin with the polls.

Canton’s Corner: TJR Q&A – October 22

Welcome to Canton’s Corner. I’ll be changing it up this week. A few months ago I was doing monthly Q&A’s on thejohnreport.net where I would do a post asking for reader questions and a few days later I’d come back with answers to whatever questions you had. On Thursday I asked for questions and you responded with over 150 that I will sift through to give answers to. I have no idea how many I will answer. I’m giving myself a few hours on Friday & Saturday to write as many as I can. I think you’ll like a lot of the answers as they cover a lot as far as current events to more historical things in the wrestling business.

John: Welcome to the WWE Vengeance PPV preview written by the staff of TheJohnReport.net. As always, there will be 14 of us guiding you through Sunday’s PPV. This is the third WWE PPV in the last five weeks. Thankfully the next one is about a month away in November as the big Survivor Series event looms on the horizon from New York City. For some reason, instead of announcing only four or five matches like they’ve been doing lately, WWE has actually promoted a full card this time around. There are eight matches scheduled for Vengeance with Dolph Ziggler having two matches.

My Live Raw Experience
By Mike Aires
As most of you read in John Canton’s always fun Raw Deal, I was live and in person at this Monday’s Raw SuperShow, which while was not the best Raw show ever, it was still a great time. Some “sports” or events cannot seem to be as fun live as they are on TV. It can depend on how boring the thing is already (see: Golf), or how a singer/band can sound terrible live or just suck in general (see: Nickelback), or you can just have terrible seats.

Live from San Diego, California this is the Raw Deal…
They aired still pictures from the ending of Summerslam to start the show. It only lasted about a minute. Then the theme song kicked in and they went to the arena shot. Looks like a full house in San Diego.

The John Report: The 25 Greatest WWE Summerslam Matches of All-Time (#25-11)
By John Canton

Summerslam. The biggest party of the summer according to World Wrestling Entertainment. Since 1988, WWE has held the Summerslam pay-per-view event and it’s considered one of the company’s big four PPVs along with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series. This year’s Summerslam will be the 24th version of the event and it’s sure to give us more memories. What I’m here to do is look back at the previous 23 years of Summerslam to pluck out the 25 greatest Summerslam matches of all time.

The John Report: The WWE Raw Deal for 08/01/11 (WWE Title Announcement)

I wrote it live this week. Live from Indianapolis, Indiana this is the Raw Deal…
They air a video package focusing on the Punk/Cena story going back to the Money in the Bank PPV where Punk won the WWE Title and left the company immediately after. Then they showed the events that followed such as McMahon’s removal, John Cena winning the WWE Title and CM Punk’s return at the end of the show last week.

The John Report: WWE Raw Deal for 07/04/11 (Cena/Vince Talk)
By John Canton

Happy birthday America. This was a taped Raw. I knew the results going in. Didn’t hurt my enjoyment of the show. Did you notice that there were times when Lawler & Cole weren’t talking in the background yet you could hear their voices? The magic of editing. Also the canned crowd noise that is prevalent on Smackdown. I hate that part of the taped shows. Taped last week from Las Vegas, Nevada (my favorite city in the world) this is the Raw Deal…

The announcers are Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Booker T. The ring ropes are red, white and blue to honor America. I missed the first five minutes, but I made it just as Kofi Kingston came running out for the first match.

The John Report: WWE Raw Deal for 06/06/11 (Tough Enough)
By John Canton

Live from Richmond, Virginia this is the Raw Deal…
Raw started with the end of Tough Enough. I did watch it, but I’m not a TE reviewer. That’s my buddy Eric Keith on TJR. The end of Tough Enough that started Raw had contestants Andy & Luke in the ring along with Tough Enough host Steve Austin and WWE CEO Vince McMahon. The Vince thing was a surprise as his “limo arrived” at the end of the 8pmET hour. He asked the guys why they wanted it. If you don’t know who they are Andy is the big guy at 6’5″ and 250 pounds while Luke is 6’2″ and 200 pounds, so who do you think WWE was going to pick to win? Vince wanted to pick the winner because he’s the CEO. Austin told him to shut up because he’s the host of Tough Enough, so he gets to pick the winner. They picked Andy of course as Austin even called him “big Andy” when he announced it. He is your WWE Tough Enough winner.
