Hello once again, dear readers, and happy Wednesday to you all. It’s time for another edition of The Midweek Breakdown. I was going to do a lengthy, philosophical column about the importance of Twitter-battling B-list R&B singers, but as you can see by the title of what you’re reading, Teddy Long came to my house and told me he loves the 10 Count so much that I just had to do it this week or else I would have to go one on one wit da Randah Or-TON. I chose to write the 10 Count. Before we begin, I want to apologize for not making it on here for Friday Headlines last week. I was out of town with a horrible Internet connection. I thought I would be able to make it work, as I was able to get the Wednesday column posted, but Headlines was just not meant to be. Anyways, I apologize and I’ll be back in form this Friday. (more…)

Monday Headlines: Vince Russo Is Finally Gone From TNA by Jacob Lindsey
The internets were abuzz on Sunday with the news that Vince Russo has apparently been wished the best in his future endeavors by TNA. As with most TNA-related stories, I’m sure it’s the beginning of some sort of angle where Russo is fired, then returns, then turns heel on Hulk Hogan, then turns face on Eric Bischoff, then wins the TNA World title, then oh man I hope this doesn’t really happen. Wednesday Headlines: WWE Signs Popular Indie Wrestler That I’ve Never Heard Of
Alright, I know what you’re thinking…
“Daaaaaaaamn AJ, you don’t know who Chris Hero is? How wack is your game, son? You don’t know about The Mack Daddy of the Cravate? The (self–proclaimed) Savior of CZW? That Young Knockout Kid? Honkey, you be trippin on some mad free base dog! Yo, check it, while I got you here, listen to this sweet new beat by Kid N’ Play while I do some spins on this unfolded cardboard box.”
To answer both of your questions:
1) No, I have no idea who this guy is.
2) Yes, my internal monologue is an 1990′s inner-city black kid carrying a boom box. His name is Tyrone, and he’s got big dreams. He’s gonna get off this block and go to college. You’ll see!
WWE Royal Rumble 2012 Preview

WWE Royal Rumble 2012 Preview
By John Canton, Andrew Johnson & Christian Michael
John Canton: I’ve always loved the Royal Rumble pay per view. I showed that love last year when I recapped every Royal Rumble match. The concept of the match is wonderful. Even if you think you know what might happen, there’s always a very good chance that something crazy will happen. I didn’t think Cena would win in 2008 or Edge in 2010 because they both made surprise returns. Could there be a surprise winner this year? You never know. The sad thing about the Rumble is that the winner doesn’t really get to “main event” WrestleMania anymore (especially this year), but it’s still one of my favorite matches and I know I’m going to enjoy it like I do every year. Right now there are only four announced matches. I’d expect some kind of midcard match to be added as a buffer to some of the big ones on the card, but I’m not going to guess what they will be.

The Midweek Breakdown: 10 Things I Think I Thought This Week
by Cody Dodson
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another fine edition of the column that rises above hate almost 43% of the time. It’s the Midweek Breakdown with me, your ever-so-grateful host, Cody Dodson. It will be January 25th when this column comes out, which can only mean one thing. The Royal Rumble is upon us and thus, the Road to Wrestlemania is about to begin. Now, most people are busy speculating over the standard questions like who is going to win, who will be the surprise entrants, and whether or not the arena will fall dead silent when Heath Slater makes his entrance. I personally won’t try to guess any of these, although I think we all know the answer to one of them. What I will do is give some thoughts on the week’s happenings and the Royal Rumble in the form of the 10 random thoughts format I debuted last time. It got a good response the first time, so let’s do it again!
Quick note: I might make this format a bi-weekly thing if people continue to enjoy it. Be sure to let me know what you think. It’s still in the experimentation phase!

The Midweek Breakdown: 10 Random Thoughts
by Cody Dodson
Hello TJR faithful and welcome to another edition of the Midweek Breakdown. I am your eleventh favorite columnist and your host, Cody Dodson. Today I’m going to do something that I like to do every once in a while and just talk about some random thoughts I have regarding what’s going on in WWE. Most weeks I like to take one or two topics and take an in-depth look at them. This week, I’m going to share some quick thoughts on a lot of different topics. There’s been a lot going on, so let’s get started.

Note from John: The following guest column is written by my good friend & TJR Radio co-host Frank the WWE Clown. It’s a piece about his adventures going to a number of WWE shows last year. It’s a great read. Enjoy.

The WWE Clown Year in Review 2011
By Frank Mustari
Ever seen some wacko dressed as a Clown in a WWE crowd? That guy has to have some serious problems, right? I mean, who would ever subject themselves to such humiliation like that?! I would.
For those of you who are not familiar with my antics, my name is Frank Mustari, and I am the WWE Clown. If you have ever watched WWE programming and saw a colorful wig, or a white and red clown face, then you have laid your eyes upon thee, and I’m sure you were very, very confused.

Former Bayside High principal, Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins), is trying his darndest to land a full-time gig as the General Manager of Raw. The post, which is currently held by Interim GM, “Mr. Excitement” John Laurinaitis, needs to be permanently filled. And if I can’t have Mick Foley, by golly give me Mr. Belding. (more…)

WWE House Show Review
From Madison Square Garden in New York City
December 27, 2011
By Kenny Latham
I’m on hiatus from reviewing Superstars until the second week of the New Year, but I went to my first ever non-televised WWE live event on Tuesday, so John asked me to write about it. Previously, I’ve been to the 2008 Royal Rumble at MSG, 2008 Great American Bash at Nassau Coliseum, 2009 Hell in a Cell at the Prudential Center, the first Smackdown after the Royal Rumble this year at Nassau (Alberto kicking Hornswoggle in the head) and the Raw from Nassau this year (All-Star night, with the CM Punk/Stone Cold segment). Anyway, on to the house show.

A few things before we begin:
- Thank you guys so much for the overwhelmingly positive feedback last week. It was you guys that convinced me to take up the Smackdown reviewer mantle, and I hope to do you all proud.
- I haven’t totally settled on the permanent title for this review yet. If you have a suggestion that’s better then “The Smacking Of WWE Smackdown” I’d love to hear it, so please leave any suggestions you have in the comment section.
- While you’re at it, please feel free to comment in the comment section. It’s the only way for you to tell me what you liked or didn’t like about the review, and how best to improve it.
- Since I hate star rating systems with the passion of a million exploding suns, I ignore them in lieu of telling you whether I like something or not. If something is Smacked Up that means it’s good, Smacked Down it’s bad. Although last week a gracious commenter pointed out that in England getting Smacked Up means getting high on heroin, so I’ll probably change that too once I think of something better.
Enjoy getting Smacked Around! (Okay, I said I was working on this last week, but obviously I’m not very good at this whole catchphrase thing. I’m working on it, please be patient.)

Live from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this is the Raw Deal…
The show started with CM Punk announcing that he had won at TLC to retain his WWE Title. There were loud chants for him right away. Philly’s a big market for indy wrestling and in particular Ring of Honor where Punk spent a lot of time, so he was very over with the crowd. He put over the physicality of the WWE Title match from TLC, saying that even though he was sore from going through a table he was still the WWE Champion.

They had a “Twas the Night Before Christmas” like beginning with voiceover guy narrating a tale that was relatable to the matches at tonight’s TLC PPV. It was pretty good. Very creative. I love the WWE production team.
